The recent fashion for time trial helmets have been on the large side, this is to direct the airflow as efficiently as possible over the non-aerodynamic shoulders of the rider. These large helmets smooth out the transition from the rider's head to the shoulders. There is a hollow area at the neck and air can become trapped in a vortex, which slows down the rider. 1. Incoming Quality Control (IQC)
